Pepelandia

Päivä oli 5.5.2006. Pakkasin tytöt (5 ja 9 vuotiaat) autoon ja lähdimme kohti Helsinkiä, “ostoksille”. Vasta matkalla kerroin, että mennäänkin hakemaan koiranpentua. Koiran? Ei, vaan GRIFFONIN. Siinä on iso ero, sen olemme saaneet koko perheen (suvun) voimin huomata!

Perillä Kirkkonummella vastassa oli iso lauma nöpöneniä. Kuvassa etuoikealla on Pepe (Nöpönenän Sinfonia, 11 vko), kaksi muuta ovat Pepen veljiä. Sisarussarjan ainoa tyttö oli jo muuttanut uuteen kotiinsa. Pepe on syntynyt 19.2.2006, Eijan päivänä!

The day was June 5th, 2006. I packed the girls (5 and 9 years) into the car and off we went, towards Helsinki – to go “shopping”. It wasn’t until almost in Helsinki that we’re on our way to get a puppy. A puppy? No, a baby GRIFFON. There’s a difference – a big one, that has become more than obvious to the entire (extended)  family!

In Kirkkonummi we were greeted by a big flock of flat-faced creatures (yeah, I don’t know how to translate “nöpönenä” – it’s a descriptive work of their nose). In the picture Pepe (Nöpönenän Sinfonia, 11 weeks, on the right) is with his two brothers. The only bitch had already moved into her new home. Pepe was born on February the 2nd, 2006 – which is Eija’s nameday!

Noin kahdeksan miljoonaa kielenlipaisua myöhemmin saavuimme kotiin. Pepen piti tietysti heti tehdä tuttavuutta isin kanssa, samoin uuden siskon – kultsu Tiltun. Tytöthän olivat jo ihan tuttuja!

About eight million licks later we came home. Of course Pepe wanted to get to know dad right away, as well as his new sister, the Golden Retriever Tiltu. And the girls were already old acquaintances!

Jännän päivän jälkeen uni voitti ikävän. Uudessa pedissä oli mukava nukkua tutut tuoksut mukana Helkky-kasvattajalta saadussa villapaidassa.

After an exciting day sleep overcame the longing of the old home. The new bed was a great place to sleep in with the familiar smells in the form of the wooly sweater the breeder Helkky gave us.

Pepe oli siis jo “iso mies” muuttaessaan uuteen kotiinsa – kokonaista 11 viikkoa vanha ja painoakin oli kertynyt kunnioitettavat puolitoista kiloa! Kahden kultaisennoutajan ja yhden berninpaimenkoiran jälkeen tällaisen “rääpäleen” kanssa asuminen oli aivan uudenlainen seikkailu koko meidän perheellemme. Mutta minkälainen, sitä emme vielä tässä vaiheessa osanneet edes aavistaa!

Pepe was already a “big man” when he moved into his new home – as much as 11 weeks old, and his weigh was respectable 1,5 kilograms! After two Golden Retrievers and one Bernese Mountaindog living with a “weakling” like Pepe was a totally new kind of an adventure for our entire family. But what kind of an adventure – we didn’t have a clue about that yet!
